Aerodrome Slipstream, the concentrated liquidity module of the Base-native decentralized exchange Aerodrome, has emerged as the leading venue for spot trading of euro-denominated stablecoins. According to data confirmed by Token Terminal, the protocol processed $9.7 billion in trading volume over the past three years, surpassing established competitors in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector.

The volume recorded by Slipstream significantly leads other major liquidity protocols. For comparison, Uniswap V3 processed $5.1 billion in euro stablecoin volume during the same period, while Orca Whirlpools handled $2.2 billion. The concentration of activity on Aerodrome highlights a shift in where liquidity for non-dollar assets is consolidating within the Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem.

According to an official blog post from Dromos, the developer behind the protocol, the Slipstream V2 architecture was specifically designed to improve fee capture and capital efficiency for pairs such as EURC-USDC. The developers stated that the technology has “virtually absorbed the entire market” for specific euro stablecoin pairings.

Market Dynamics and Asset Composition

The primary assets driving these figures are EURC, issued by Circle, and EURe from Monerium. These tokens have gained traction partly due to their alignment with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, which provides a framework for euro-pegged assets within the European Union. Despite this growth, non-dollar stablecoins still represent less than 0.5% of the total stablecoin market, which remains heavily dominated by USD-pegged tokens like USDT and USDC.

Secondary reports indicate that Aerodrome now manages between 50% and 60% of all decentralized exchange (DEX) volume on the Base network. Over a recent 30-day window, the platform generated approximately $3.83 million in fees, resulting in $2.9 million in revenue distributed to veAERO token holders.

The operational success of these euro-pegged assets on Aerodrome stands in contrast to recent volatility in the sector. Other issuers, such as StablR, recently saw their EURR tokens lose their pegs following security breaches, underscoring the importance of infrastructure stability and regulatory compliance for regional stablecoin adoption. As of the latest tracker data, Aerodrome continues to maintain its lead in spot liquidity for MiCA-compliant euro assets on-chain.
