MANTRA Chain, a Layer 1 blockchain infrastructure focused on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, has suspended all network operations following a security incident detected on August 20, 2026. The protocol moved to freeze transactions, transfers, and staking as a precautionary measure while engineering and security teams investigate the disruption.
According to the official MANTRA Chain status dashboard, the outage is classified as a full network incident. The halt affects public endpoints, validator activity, bridge migration operations, and MANTRA-managed Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) relays. The project stated it would not restart the network until the integrity and safety of the system have been verified.
We have identified the root cause of the incident and contained the immediate threat.
The incident was isolated to the Cosmos EVM module of MANTRA Chain and affected two wallet addresses before we achieved containment.
No user funds were exploited.

The operational freeze has directly affected the movement of assets across the ecosystem. Deposits and withdrawals to and from the chain are currently unavailable. MANTRA has not publicly disclosed a specific root cause or restoration timeline. In response to the halt, MANTRA requested that exchanges and ecosystem partners suspend trading of its native token until the situation is resolved. Several centralized platforms have reportedly paused deposits and withdrawals for the asset, although the available information does not establish the status of every exchange. Internal order matching on centralized exchanges may continue independently, but users cannot perform on-chain transfers or move assets between the network and external wallets while MANTRA Chain remains offline.
Will this incident affect MANTRA’s growth?
This suspension of service follows a period of organizational transition for the project. In June, MANTRA announced a strategic acquisition by Inveniam Capital Partners, a deal scheduled to close in the third quarter of this year. The acquisition provides broader corporate context for the project but has not been identified as a cause of the current network incident.
Security incidents involving network-wide halts have occurred elsewhere in the cross-chain ecosystem, such as when THORChain halted trading following infrastructure abuse. In that case, restoring full functionality required additional security checks and operational measures before services were fully restored.
MANTRA Chain is working with external security partners to assess the network’s integrity. Until the investigation is complete, the project has advised users to refrain from attempting on-chain transactions and to rely on its status page and official communication channels for information about a potential restart.
