KuCoin Opens AXIS Spot Trading With 20x Perpetuals

KuCoin opens AXIS/USDT spot trading and a 20x perpetual market as Base-native Axis Robotics expands its Physical AI data infrastructure.

KuCoin has opened spot trading for Axis Robotics’ AXIS token, adding another centralized exchange venue for the Base-native Physical AI project. AXIS/USDT trading began at 12:00 UTC on October 22 following a one-hour call auction, while deposits had already opened through the Base network.

According to KuCoin’s official listing announcement, withdrawals are scheduled to begin at 10:00 UTC on October 23. The exchange also activated AXIS/USDT across automated trading services including Spot Grid, Infinity Grid, DCA, Smart Rebalance and Spot Martingale, alongside its AI-assisted bot products.

The rollout follows KuCoin’s familiar staged listing structure. The exchange recently used similar auctions and spot-market openings for assets including EVAA Protocol and Doppler Finance. A centralized exchange listing expands token access and potential liquidity, but it does not independently demonstrate greater usage of the underlying Axis robotics infrastructure.

AXIS Perpetual Trading Starts With 20x Leverage

KuCoin Futures opened its AXISUSDT USD-margined perpetual contract at 07:00 UTC, five hours before the spot pair. The derivatives market supports leverage from 1x to 20x, with each contract representing 10 AXIS and funding settled every four hours.

The contract carries a capped funding rate of +2% or -2% and trades continuously. KuCoin can modify leverage limits, maintenance margin requirements and other parameters in response to market risk, meaning the initial 20x ceiling should not be treated as a permanent contract specification.

Spot and perpetual availability also represent different forms of market exposure. Buying AXIS/USDT gives traders possession of the token, while the perpetual contract provides leveraged price exposure without requiring ownership of AXIS itself, making trading volume across the two products analytically distinct.

Axis launched on Base in March 2026 and has built its system around producing training data for robotics models. Its infrastructure combines browser-based simulation, human demonstrations, real-world data capture and model-feedback loops intended to generate progressively more targeted robotic training trajectories.

Axis Robotics Expands Physical AI Infrastructure

The project raised a $12 million seed round in July led by Hack VC, with participation from Nomad Capital, Pi Network Ventures, 10K Ventures and angel investors. Axis said the funding would expand its distributed human-in-the-loop data engine rather than simply finance token-market development.

Axis also reports industrial work involving Lotus and Geely around automated component sorting, alongside collaborations with robotics companies and model developers. Those deployments provide evidence of commercial experimentation with Axis-generated robotics data, although they should remain separate from exchange demand for the AXIS token.

The project sits within a broader effort to connect blockchain infrastructure with verifiable AI data. Other initiatives, including the DATA Network’s planned AI training-data integration with Sui, similarly use blockchains to record contributions and provenance. Blockchain verification can document data activity without proving that the resulting datasets improve robotics models or generate equivalent commercial demand.

KuCoin’s listing therefore adds both spot and leveraged trading infrastructure around AXIS while the underlying project continues developing its Physical AI data business. The immediate measurable change is broader market access for the token, while adoption of Axis itself remains better assessed through data production, contributors, customers and recurring robotics workloads.
