Celo has expanded its USA₮ “f-air drop,” allowing eligible users to claim up to $10 in the stablecoin after increasing the original reward tenfold. The campaign links stablecoin distribution to proof-of-humanity verification, aiming to direct rewards toward unique users rather than automated accounts or duplicate identities.
According to an official Celo Blog announcement, the expanded distribution follows early participation in the USA₮ Mainnet Faucet launched two weeks earlier with Self and Google Cloud. Verified participants can now receive an initial $5 and unlock another $5 by completing an on-chain activity.
Celo Links USA₮ Rewards to On-Chain Use
The first portion of the reward is available after users complete the required verification through the Google Cloud USA₮ Mainnet Faucet for Celo. The verification layer is designed to establish that each recipient represents a unique human before stablecoins are distributed.
A second $5 reward is tied to practical network participation, such as transferring USA₮ to another Celo wallet. Splitting the distribution between identity verification and actual stablecoin use turns the campaign into both an onboarding mechanism and a test of real payment activity.
Users who completed faucet verification before the increased rewards were announced are also expected to receive an additional distribution directly in their Celo wallets. The retroactive component extends the larger incentive to early participants rather than limiting the new reward structure to fresh users.
USA₮ is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., with Tether involved in the stablecoin initiative. Its use in the campaign places a regulated dollar-linked asset at the center of Celo’s effort to combine identity infrastructure with low-friction blockchain payments.
USA₮ Support Expands Across Celo
The stablecoin’s footprint is also extending beyond the faucet. Opera’s self-custodial MiniPay wallet is scheduled to add native USA₮ support, potentially placing the asset inside a consumer-facing payment application already connected to the Celo ecosystem. Broader wallet integration could give recipients more ways to use the tokens after claiming them.
USA₮ is also being incorporated into the “Agents at Work” hackathon, where developers can pursue stablecoin adoption bounties for products involving remittances, bill payments and on-chain foreign exchange. The initiative connects the distribution campaign with application development rather than treating the faucet solely as a promotional giveaway.
The faucet remains available to users who satisfy its eligibility and verification conditions. Celo’s next test will be whether the larger $10 distribution translates into recurring USA₮ usage after the initial rewards are claimed, particularly across payments and other practical stablecoin applications.
