Ronin Network has launched the first alpha playtest for Aquarium Quest, an aquatic-themed Web3 game built around collecting, breeding and battling digital pets. The Alpha Playtest 1 phase is now live and gives players access to arcade minigames tied to a 15,000 RON reward pool.
The launch also introduces early reward mechanics through a Battle Pass system, where participants can earn exclusive reward chests during the test. Aquarium Quest has said those chests are expected to become tradeable on-chain game assets, making the playtest an early look at both gameplay and asset utility.

Alpha Test Focuses on Gameplay and Rewards
During the first testing phase, Aquarium Quest is keeping virtual aquariums free for players to use. That lowers the entry barrier for early users while the team tests the game’s core loop, which centers on collecting aquatic pets, developing them and using them in battle-oriented gameplay.

The reward structure is built around participation rather than a finished commercial release. Players can compete in arcade minigames for a share of the RON pool, while Battle Pass progression adds another layer of engagement through chest rewards. The current phase is still an alpha environment, not a full product launch.
That distinction matters for players and token watchers. Alpha playtests are designed to test retention, mechanics, user flow and reward balance before a wider rollout. In this case, the main signal is Ronin’s continued onboarding of playable gaming content, not a confirmed shift in RON demand by itself.
Ronin’s Gaming Push Continues After Ethereum L2 Migration
Aquarium Quest arrives as Ronin continues positioning itself as a dedicated gaming network after completing its migration to Ethereum as a Layer 2 in May 2026. The network said the move reduced RON emissions from 45 million RON per year to 5 million and redirected future emissions toward builders through its Proof of Distribution model. That gives new games a more explicit role in Ronin’s post-migration incentive strategy.
For Aquarium Quest, the alpha release offers a first public test of whether its aquatic breeding and battling concept can attract players beyond initial reward participation. The important metric will be whether users return after the first reward cycle, because sustained gameplay matters more than short-term prize chasing.
No specific end date for Alpha Playtest 1 has been provided in the available announcement. Until more details are released, the clean read is straightforward: Aquarium Quest is live on Ronin in early alpha, with free aquarium access, Battle Pass reward chests and 15,000 RON allocated to arcade minigame competition.
